“I suffered for decades with chronic, debilitating pain. Migraines, low back pain, respiratory illnesses… Slowly but surely over the years the quality of my life was disintegrating. It got to where I might have 1 or 2 days a month when I wasn't sick, or in pain. I lived on prescription pain medicines, and saw chiropractors sometimes 2 -3 times a week, for years.
Being widowed in my 40's marked the start of my personal healing quest. I'd herniated a disc in my low back, and could barely walk. A series of events lead me to my first experience of energy healing, in 1998. I was utterly astonished to get off the table 85% better after just one treatment, highlighted by the fact she didn't even touch me.
Over several years I employed a wide combination of therapies such as physical therapy, massage, and psychotherapy, later incorporating therapies such as Rolfing, various energy and manual modalities, acupuncture, and made extensive self-care changes.
During this time I trained simultaneously learning Reiki (the most well known, easy to learn, laying on of hands energy healing system in the world), and earning my massage license, subsequently becoming a Reiki Master Teacher. My classes have been available through Lane Community College since 2001.
I developed torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders during my busy practice. I was going for all the usual treatments 2-3 times a week just to keep pain at bay, with no real solution to the issues. The handwriting was on the wall. I was watching my much loved career literally slipping out of my hands.
That is, until Bowenwork got to the core cause, which was a twisted pelvis from a car accident I'd been in as a 6 year old. I set my course to become proficient in this amazing, and simply elegant healing modality. Since then I've seen what many would call miracles with Bowenwork, and with Reiki, both for myself and for hundreds of happy clients."
