Suffering over twenty years with chronic, debilitating pain... Migraines, low back pain, respiratory illnesses, insomnia, depression… Slowly but surely the quality of Laura's life disintegrated, finding herself living on prescription pain medicines, and chiropractic care. “It got to where I might have 1 or 2 days a month when I wasn't sick or in pain, or both. It was no way to live.”

Widowed in her early 40's marked the beginning of Laura’s personal healing quest. “I'd yet again herniated a disc in my low back, and this time I could barely walk. A series of events led me to my first experience of energy healing. I was utterly astonished to get off the table 85% better after just one treatment, highlighted by the fact she didn't even touch me.”

That experience lead to learning Reiki, "...which absolutely changed my life. Reiki changed my relationship with myself and truly began my journey, both in healing and in finding my vocation."  Laura became a Reiki Master Teacher and massage therapist. Laura along with her husband and co-teacher, Paul Nelson have been offering Reiki classes through Lane Community College since 2002.

As a massage therapist Laura developed torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders, going for all the usual bodywork treatments (bodywork, chiropractic, physical therapy) 2-3 times a week just to keep pain at bay. “The handwriting was on the wall. I was watching my beloved career quite literally slipping out of my hands.”

That is, until Bowenwork got to the core cause, which was a twisted pelvis from a car accident as a child. “Bowenwork unlocked the twist I had throughout my spine, allowing my body to heal itself! The responses I witnessed in my clients inspired me to become proficient in this amazing therapy, including becoming a nationally certified instructor of this simply elegant healing modality.”

Magpali previously worked as a mortgage broker and was married happily for twenty years. After her husband’s death, Magpali realized at age 40 that she needed to reevaluate her career path and lifestyle, starting with her physical and mental health. Read more...
